Before reaching out for help, Zach, a single Christian man, described a stage of his journey with prescription dependency as, “It was a vicious cycle of taking more, needing more. Taking more. Needing more.”
Today’s episode is the first of a two-part series in which I, Tracie Lobstein, speak with Zach. Listen as he shares details about his battle of doing what he didn't want and being powerless to do what he did want to do.
Where does prescription dependency begin? For Zach, “This all got started, sitting on the couch, relaxing, and expressing how painful my feet and back were after a hard day at work.”
He then opened up about how his reliance on prescription medication led to a loss of control and took him to unexpected places, physically and mentally.
What effects do our beliefs have on our decisions? Zach shared his thought process at one point, “I think that it had to do with my view on dependency or addiction at the time.” See how his viewpoint changed when he reached out for help and now has a message of hope.
